How to send a balikbayan box thru Monark Worldwide?

 

Steps:

 

  1. Balikbayan Box. After you have done your shopping for goods to send to the Philippines it is now time to request online or by phone for “The Flying Balikbayan Box”. “the Flying Balikbayan Box” comes in two different sizes that are commonly used. Standard size is 24 x 18 x 18 inches and Oversized is 24 x 18 x 24 inches. Make sure to choose the size that can fit everything that you are sending. You may need to requests more than one box in case you are sending a lot of items or if you are sending to different destinations or distant addresses within the Philippines.
  2. Pack Goods. It is essential to pack carefully. If you are sending fragile items make sure to add bubble wraps. Sometimes to save on space you can wrap the breakable items with T-shirts or towels you are sending. These acts as cushion and saves space since you are sending these items anyway. Pack in small plastic bags or label each with the names of the recipient to avoid confusion when sending to multiple recipients sharing the same box, then place them neatly and carefully inside the “The Flying Balikbayan Box. Labeling separately each package for each recipient will ensure that the package is received by the intended recipient and it also ensures the peace and harmony of those who are receiving, avoiding conflicts among the recipients.
  3. Seal and label the box. Seal the box carefully with packing tape. Write clearly your full name and address and also recipient's full name and address on the field provided in  both sides of “The Flying Balikbayan Box” using a permanent marker.
  4. Mode of Transportation. Determine how many items you need to send and the mode of transportation of your package. If you are sending by sea there is no limit to the weight. If you can fit it inside the box without ripping it off, then you can ship it without paying extra. If you wish to send by air, use our online air calculator to have an idea how much it will cost you.  The most common way is by sea since it is a cheaper way to send and there are no weight limitations, we also have an online seafreight calculator you can use. Sending by air is used if it is urgently needed. It takes less than 25 to 30  days for a shipment by sea to arrive at the destination, where by air you can send it to the next available flight and your recipient can have it when the plane arrives, which is in about  4 to 5 days.
  5. Informing MONARK USA. Inform us by Phone, Online or thru Chat, with our  online help service that your box is sealed and ready for transport.  We will then reserve you the earliest available slot for pick-up in your address and provide you with the date and time.  We provide discounts if you are a regular customer after sending a certain number of times, getting a free delivery of one box thru our customer loyalty program, you can enjoy perks and benefits provided by MONARK USA.  This can add up to a lot of savings especially if you are a regular sender.
  6. Sales Invoice/Packing List.   Whether at the MONARK USA’s office or if the representative is picking up the Balikbayan box for delivery, you would need to fill out the Sales Invoice/Packing List. You need to fill out one for each addressee not for each box. For example, if you have one recipient named but 2 boxes, you only need one Sales Invoice/Packing List. If you have multiple boxes and different recipients, you need to fill out one for each recipient. A Sales Invoice/Packing List is a document issued by a MONARK USA acknowledging that the goods that have been specified have been received by us and will be delivered to its intended recipient (consignee). The Sales Invoice/Packing List includes the list of items that are inside the box, the information of the intended recipient, which includes the name, address and phone number.   7. Payment. Once everything has been checked out and the forms completed, you will now pay MONARK USA. You can pay by cash, credit cards or online.  If paying online show your receipt to MONARK USA’s representative to confirm your payment.  Prices vary by size, destination and mode of transportation if by air or By Sea
  8. Notifying Recipient: Let your recipient know that you have sent the box and when they would expect your package to arrive. Make sure that the recipient can provide a couple of valid identification. MONARK USA provides technology that you will experience without following up on your box.  Every time  your box gets scanned it will alert both Shipper and Recipient of the status of their cargo.  Thus, eliminating the hassle of making numerous calls to follow up.  like most Balikbayan Forwarders obsolete procedures.
